A Garden Movie

I was just chatting with Tamara and she wanted to know why I hadn't posted pictures of the garden yet.

So. . .

Without further ado. . .

I took it one step further and made a little garden movie! (It ends rather abruptly as I ran out of room on my memory card. Steven Spielberg I am not!)

Enjoy.

(It seems the movie hasn't finished processing on YouTube yet. As of 4:40 pm alberta time. Give it a try and if it doesn't work come back a little later and try again. :) )

Okay, I've been trying to load this movie since Friday! It's been driving me crazy. Ev's husband Yvon told me that I likely had very low priority and would likely get bumped when there was a lot of traffic on Blogger. I couldn't seem to get it uploaded to YouTube either. Arghhh!

But, it finally went through so follow the link and let me know what you think of my new 'food' garden.

Check back tomorrow and see my first harvest.

Living in Chaos

For what seems like months now, I've been living in chaos.
If I work in the garden, the house falls to pieces.
If I work in the house, plants wilt, weeds grow and bugs thrive.

We dog sat Jada's friend Diesel for two weeks while his 'people' went to Europe for the trip of a life time.

Both dogs shed like mad.

A scarf could have been knit using the drifts of fur piled around the house. After all, given the choice of vacuuming or gardening. . .

Well, which do you think I chose? (for two weeks straight! Okay. . .maybe even a bit longer than that. . .)

Morgan's long time friend Mr.B has been over a lot in the last few days and I cringe to think about the dirt, dust and fur collected on the stairs down to Morgan's room.

And yet. . .

Out I go to the garden.

At this time of the year I'm shameless. A dirty house doesn't phase me.
Until someone calls wanting to drop by for a visit.
Panic sets in as I cast my horrified eyes around the house.
Unless the person on the other end of the line is someone who has seen me in all my messy spring glory before, I'm afraid I'm going to have a previous engagement!

So if you've been trying to visit and always find me busy, take heart.
Next Wednesday is the last day of school.
And the beginning of eight blissful weeks of uninterrupted days.
The first thing I plan to do is scrub the house from top to bottom.

Although, I did notice a few weeds popping up in the veggie garden. . .

Ah well, winter will be here before you know it.
There'll be plenty of time for house work then!

My Mom The Storyteller

I'm almost there.
A few more weeks and the yard renovation and reorganization should be done.
Thanks to Henry's help with all the digging, composting and mulching in the back yard the main portions are now done. The apple tree garden which contains the pond and future asparagus bed still need to be done but we can take our time with that.
Tomorrow I start work on the front which is in desperate need of some TLC.
Weeding, composting, manuring and mulching still needs to be done but that I can do on my own.
There is one item in the front garden that can only be done by Henry, the poor soul, but I'll post about that another day.
So, in celebration of the fact that I'm finally starting to feel like myself again, I'm posting this little video taken by a very sneaky Crystal after Sunday dinner, while we were doing dishes.

My mom tells a great story. . .
