Breakfast In The Garden

I love making gardens.
Creating a variety of garden zones (seating, bbqing, flower beds etc.), laying pathways, choosing the plant material, embellishing it with interesting accessories, I love everything about it.
Not the  heavy digging and weeding mind you. . .
But I love the rest of it.

However. . .

Gardens are more than something pretty to look at.
Gardens need to be lived in.
They are a beautiful place to read, eat, sleep, dream and spend time with loved ones.
I grab every chance I can get to do just that.

My back garden is still under construction, so sleeping in the hammock is out right now but I have breakfast in it as often as I can.

What do you like to do in the garden?

Daisy

One of my favourite flowers is the simple daisy. . .
Bring a handful in the house and they will bring cheer no matter where you put them.
Cluster them in a large vase or put just one in a small vase. . .

You can't go wrong with a daisy.

Storytelling

Henry's mom and dad recently celebrated their 55Th wedding anniversary.
We had a lovely evening together and I'd show you the pictures to prove it except that I don't have any!
I spent all my time with my little point and shoot camera taking video in the hopes of editing it into a nice little film for all the brothers and sisters who couldn't come.
It slipped to the bottom of my To Do list I'm afraid, as I first have to learn how to use my new video editing program. . .
Hmmm. . . not sure I'm ever going to get to the bottom of that list at the rate I'm going!

We pulled out the scrapbook we had made them for their 45TH anniversary and while I was looking through it, I was struck by the fact that I felt compelled to make our family submission into a story. . .

'Give a man a fish and. . .  '

But he'll never teach me!

My sister Lisa took me on a three day cruise . . .  so of course I had to climb the rock wall on the smoke stack!

And that I used three periods so often. . .

Some things never change. . .

It's Been Quite A While. . .

It's been quite a while since I've blogged.
Life got in the way big time!
The plant sale and work at Costco, getting ready for Holly to move back home (and she's still sleeping in a room with shelves of my stuff all over, poor girl. . .), 2 weeks where my allergies and asthma had me pretty much tied to my chair . . .

The kind of stuff we all struggle with at one time or another. . .

However. . .

I've just had a lovely week and a bit of an 'At Home' holiday and I'm feeling a whole lot better!

Head on over to {growing} wisdom to see what's happening in my front garden this week. . .

And, because I have unblogged posts up the wazoo. . . I leave you with pictures of my birthday. . .  six weeks ago!

I bought this awesome birthday banner from my friend Ev.
 In attendance. . .

Sisters-in-law and nephews. .

Mothers-in-law and a sister-in-law who is mother of the  nephew seen above. . .

And don't forget the nieces!
I had strawberry shortcake with freshly baked biscuits. . . Which, as Leona commented, made it a real Dutch party. . . the hostess spends all her time running around making sure everyone was having a good time. . .
I know I did!
Do you think I will ever have a decent picture taken of me???

A hand made gift from Rebecca. . . I love it! Nothing in it sets off my allergies!
