My Adventure With Marlene

A few days ago Marlene and I set off on an adventure, on the hunt for fabulous plant material to bring back for {growing} wisdom's first plant sale.

The hunt took us to Westlock, to visit Sunniebend's wholesale greenhouses. Normally of course, anyone wanting to buy the small amounts that I do, would not be able to buy wholesale, as the only way they make money is to sell in bulk.  I could possibly twisted Tamara's arm and  had her pull a few strings so I could get stuff from  Darvonda , but I have committed to buying local or growing either organic, heritage or non Monsanto owned seeds  as much as possible, so. . .

Of to Westlock and Sunniebend, the greenhouses owned by Marlene's brother and sister-in-law.

* Since the brother is Marlene's husband Edward's, would it be more correct to say her brother-in-law and sister-in-law?(  Ugh! Who knew I really would need grammar when I grew up?)

Anyways. . . .

Of we went, on a long drive through farm country.

Not to worry, I wasn't actually looking at this, but the road as I took the picture. I was rather pleased that the farm actually ended up in the picture frame!

Marlene in the lead. . .

The closest you'll get to a picture of Marlene. I was so busy taking pictures of plants I forgot to take one of her!

and before you knew it. . .

We were there!

I was thrilled!

I mean wouldn't you be if you got to browse in a bunch of these?

It took us a while to really focus. Stuff like this. . .

and this. . .

Kept distracting us!

I started out sensibly. Not getting carried away. . .

But greenhouse after greenhouse and cold frame after cold frame caused any good sense I had ( and the boys will tell you I didn't have much to start with. . .) to fly out the window.
I told my self this only made financial sense if I went home with the truck fully loaded. (I learned that from Tamara)

I may have lost my head a little. . .

But it all fit in the back of the suburban, so maybe not!

Then I got home and checked the weather channel. . .
A few chilly days ahead.

All of this. . .

Was going to have to fit in my little greenhouses.

Could it be done?

Absolutely!

I feel so very blessed to have been able to go on this little adventure with Marlene. One more step in fulfilling a long held dream.

Thanks Marlene!

I had also planned to have pictures and prices of everything posted in the shop over at {growing} wisdom tonight but when I went to take pictures earlier this evening, the battery was dead and by the time it was charged the light was gone.

I will do my best to get it posted by lunch time tomorrow so that if you are coming to the Mom 2 Mom sale Saturday morning you will have an idea of what I have. I will, of course, be bringing some of my plants, not all of them. . .

And fair warning. . . I do not have Big Box store prices. . .

As a tiny local grower that's not possible, but I do not quite have Hole's prices either. . .

And if you can't make the Mom 2mom sale on Saturday you might want to come out to the pre May Long  weekend sale next Tuesday and Wednesday. . .  (The sale continues that Friday through the following weekend.)

The forecast is for sunny and hot. . .

The very best weather  for {growing} wisdom's first plant sale!

I would LOVE it if you were able to come! Of course that would be a mighty long way to go for a plant sale. . .
Would it help if I gave you a hanging basket for FREE? ;D
And not to worry, there will be pics of tomorrow's sale. . .
Finding time to POST them might be a problem though. . . lol
