Photography. Playing with Textures

I've been looking at more and more digital art and the first step seems to be adding texture and perhaps some text.

I'm quite intrigued by it all and decided to try out something super simple in PicMonkey.

It's kind of fun and I'm thinking it's long past time to dig into the Fine Arts Grunge Photoshop course I bought last summer.

Here's my first effort:

Original . . .

Textured and texted . . .

What do you think?

You did very well in adding texture and text. This is something I love to do as well. Here is a site you might like: http://www.kimklassencafe.com/thecafe/. You can check out the tutorials (many are free) and also sign up to get free textures by email. Kim is Canadian too.

Thanks Jennifer. :)
I have visited Kim's a few times and her blog is one of the places I've been inspired by. I hadn't realized she was Canadian though or that any of her tutorials were free. I'm going to have to have a better look around over there.
I really appreciate your advice.
