This is a single flowering peony.
Oh, I love that contrast between the middle of the flower and the petals. Shoot, I'm a gardener, you'd think I could come up with the correct word!

Very pretty! When I was a child, I always thought it was neat how the ants eat off the outer part of the peony so they could bloom (or at least that's why my mom told me!). Beautiful pictures!
That is a myth, but a pretty one I think!
